 - Eight Universal Principles For Creating a Kinder World 

 

 

The Buddha is reputed to have said, "We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we create the world."

Well I've learnt, from experience, that there's nothing truer. With the right mindset, anyone can do just about anything in this world - and that includes creating peace.

Over the years, I've run workshops around this concept and successful attendees can attest to this fact as well.

So over the next few weeks, I'd like to share eight Universal Principles that anyone can incorporate into their daily lives to create a kinder world for themselves, and by extension, for others.

  • Concepts of scarcity breed fear, and fear perpetuates a belief in scarcity. From this notion comes greed, envy, intolerance. In reality:

Universal Principles #1: Nothing is scarce, and everyone is infinite

  • Belief in an unfair world designed to give some what they want and not others leads to dissatisfaction and resentment. In reality:

Universal Principles #2: The universe is designed to fulfill all our needs.

  • An 'I'm on my own' belief system can lead to feelings of helplessness and kill great dreams. In reality:

Universal Principles #3: Ask and you will receive.

Whatever our beliefs, this rule applies to all. Ask God, Allah, Tian, Vishnu, Eloah, Nsi, Wakan Tanka, Great Spirit, the Universe.

  • By this time, you're ready to give up, stop trying. The first three Universal Principles aren't working for you, and you can't imagine that they ever will. Don't despair. You're simply missing an important key:

Universal Principles #4: Trust yourself, trust your universe.

Distrust creates such a cloud of uncertainty in and around us, that the mind becomes restless. Opportunities can be lost, and important messages scrambled. Learn to trust and doors will open.

  • Okay, we're moving forward again, but you still feeling battered by the winds of fate, as if you have no control over your world. This is not the work of outside forces. In fact:

Universal Principles #5: What you focus on becomes your reality

Feel the power in that sentence. Hold that power. It's yours, your birthright. Choose what experiences you wish to subject your mind and your body to. Everyday. Deliberately.

  • And what about the seemingly insurmountable problems and unanswerable questions that keep you from growing, expanding? In reality:

Universal Principles #6: All life reflects back to you what you need to know

Allow answers to come from any source: a book you're reading, a dream, the soft whisper of your inner voice. Listen to the words of the wind in the trees; listen to the message in the bark of a dog.

  • The notion that creativity is the precinct of authors, artists, and inventors is quite simply flawed. In fact:

Universal Principle #7: Thought is the force of creation

That means we are all creators. Consciously or unconsciously, we create our physical appearances, the form our lives take, and the experiences we have. Therefore, Direct thoughts carefully and precisely. As we think, so we create.

  • Finally, let go of any preconceived notion that we are separate. Humanity, the plant and animal kingdoms, the stars, the Universe - we're all intertwined, connected by energy. This explains why:

Universal Principle # 8: Energy transmutes into like energy

I'm smiling, you automatically smile; I'm hateful, and suddenly you feel drained. In order to stay balanced and in control, we must master the flow of energy between us and the world by consciously maintaining the energy field of our choice around ourselves.

Follow the Eight Universal Principles laid out above and you will carry peace in the core of your being wherever you go, fellow seekers!

If there is light in the soul,

There will be beauty in the person.

If there is beauty in the person,

There will be harmony in the house.

If there is harmony in the house,

There will be order in the nation.

If there is order in the nation,

There will be peace in the world.
