Step One

The first step is the most important one.

 You must affirm that the person with the heavy heart is not who you were meant to be.

 Say it out loud:

 THIS IS NOT THE PERSON I WAS MEANT TO BE.

HAPPINESS IS MY BIRTHRIGHT!

You feel it in your gut. If you didn't, you wouldn't be seeking change. Every morning, for three days, when the cloud threatens, say it.

 

 

The brain is like a computer. For years, fear, anger, a sense of being wronged or having wronged, the desire for vindication, all these heavy emotions get programmed into it, and because we humans have a tendency to give unhappy thoughts more power than happy ones, that programming gets reinforced day after day.

The only way to erase unhealthy programming is to flood your being with healthy, light-filled thoughts. As the author of Autobiography of a Yogi, Sri Paramahansa Yogananda, once said:

"The accumulated darkness of ages is dispelled at once by bringing the light in,

not by trying to chase the darkness out."

 

By the end of the third day, you’ll no longer need the first sentence, because a growing sense of determination will make you want to look forward not backwards.

So, for the next four days, fill every cell of your being with the words,

HAPPINESS IS MY BIRTHRIGHT!
